 Overview

Navigate Nursing Research is an instructionally designed online course formulated on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's (AACN) Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice Document. This course can be used in a traditional BSN curriculum or RN to BSN curriculum.

Navigate Nursing Research focuses on the role of the nurse as a researcher and a research consumer. The course teaches quantitative and qualitative research as well as the skills necessary to evaluate research findings and develop a process to incorporate them into practice. The historical, legal, and ethical aspects of nursing research are also woven into the content of this course.

Another focal point of the course is the evaluation and utilization of research and additional sources of information necessary to address patient needs and provide quality care. The course covers the appropriate methods, appraisal, and utilization of research findings with a goal of implementing best practices. Barriers to the use of evidence-based practice as well as how to facilitate innovation within the workplace are also discussed.
